Introduction to rabbit breeders

May 7th, 2007

This is a sample site set up by Belinda Francis of Galen’s Garden for rabbit breeders, rabbit clubs, rabbit rescues and rabbit shows who want their own free site on one of the Galen’s Garden’s specialist domains.

A similar template is on offer to guinea pig or cavy breeders, clubs, rescues or shows.  See Teraza’s blog for a live example.

Galen’s Garden is a UK site but the bulk of our visitors are from the US!  If you are a rabbit breeder in any country, you are welcome to a free full page listing in the Galen’s Garden Directory.  The ’sign up form’ takes all your details, throws them into the data base and then the database creates your listing which is then searchable by Country, State or County for those in the US or the UK,  type of animal, area of activity (for example breeder) and any keywords.

You might wonder why anyone would not only give away free sites to rabbit breeders but also go to the effort of setting them up with a Wordpress site and supporting them through any other type of site build.  Well there is no mystery to it.  Galen’s Garden produces and sells specialist natural products for rabbits and guinea pigs (and we hope you’ll be kind enough to link to us), but beyond that you as a rabbit breeder are adding valuable specialist content to the www.rabbit-breeders.co.uk web site which will both attract more visitors to the site and increase the standing of the site in the search engine rankings as your friends and other contacts link through to your free site.

There will never be any obligation to carry any advertising for us on your site, nor will we charge you any money for your site or your Directory listing ever.

We simply want rabbit breeders, clubs, shows and rescues to add value to our sites.

Please spread the word amongst and rabbit breeders, rabbit rescues, rabbit clubs and rabbit showorganisers you know.

We are pro-rescue, we are not anti-breeder.  We are against bad breeders, but then so are all the good breeders we know.  We are against superstores and garden centres selling livestock.  We are against impulse buying of rabbits and other pets.

Both rescues and responsible breeders support the new owners throughout their entire rabbit ownership through recommending good rabbit vets, often offering or recommending holiday boarding facilities for rabbits and advising on health, care, grooming and other aspects of caring for a rabbit.

It is this type of support for rabbit owners which helps prevent so many of the problems encountered when people buy rabbits from pet superstores or garden centres.  In addition, the health of the rabbit is a known quantity, you can be sure the rabbit breeder or rabbit rescue can guarantee the sex of the rabbit (plus some breeders and many rescues spay and neuter rabbits as a matter of course) and know to recommend weaning your new baby rabbit onto the food of your choice gradually to prevent digestive upsets.

At Galen’s Garden we specialise in the natural care of rabbits and other small furries so it is in our interest to have educated rabbit owners who understand what caring for a rabbit is all about.
